Eating Healthy is Pleasing to our Creator

We have found that our Father's ways are simple and pleasing. We have seen the love of our Creator in the things He has spoken to us. He is leading us to do what is pleasing to Him and what is pleasing to Him is healthy for us. Just as a parent wants to give his child the finest in nutritive care, so too our Heavenly Father is keenly interested in providing his people with the finest foods.

One of the foundations of good health is good nutrition. Our focus is on whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, fresh oils, fresh fruits and vegetables.

Harvest

Many years ago we departed from the use of processed, boxed and canned foods. We learned the great value of eating most all of our fruits and vegetables raw or lightly cooked. Thus their nutritive integrity remains intact, providing the necessary enzymes in order to do their work in our bodies. Our bodies are designed to be healthy and to heal themselves if they are provided the necessary nutrients, free of pollutants.

It is only common sense that we have gardens and grow sprouts wherever we can. We possess the ability to grow premium organic foods we can trust in our own homes and on our own lands — not only organic, but also nutritiously superior foods grown in mineral-rich organic soils that can keep us in excellent health for many years to come.

Common sense has also taught us to drink plenty of fresh, pure water and get appropriate aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Going to bed with the confidence of a good conscience does much to aid the rejuvenating effects of sleep through the night, restoring our strength and mental clarity for another day of service to our families, friends, neighbors and our Creator.

Vegetables growing in field

We have seen that sprays and fertilizers used on supermarket produce can be very hazardous to our health. The safest way we know to get high quality food is to grow it ourselves. Commercially produced fruits, vegetables, and grains that are contaminated with pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or even genetically altered varieties all carry their unforeseen hazards. So, for these reasons, our goal is to grow as much food for our diet as possible. Over the years, we've made much progress towards this goal.

We have avoided the use of commercial meats whose source we are not familiar with because of the terrible way commercially raised and slaughtered meat is produced. It is simply not edible according to our standards. We also do not believe in the needless slaughter of animals just to satisfy a craving. For this reason, we do not eat meat too often. However, we do consider it something special for a festive meal and prefer to draw from our own livestock for such occasions. However, the healthiest varieties of fish, such as mackerel and bluefish, are a regular part of our diet whenever we can get them.

There are things we do not consider food such as pork and shellfish. This choice is based on the laws concerning food in the Old Testament of the Bible.

In departing from processed foods, we have utilized the value of fermented foods, sourdough bread, and cultured milk products such as yogurt. Fermented and cultured foods provide the good bacteria needed to keep our digestive systems healthy. They also make the food nutrients more available for assimilation.

Other staples in our diet include Vinny (a beverage made with apple cider vinegar, honey, and water), Celtic Salt (a natural unrefined sea salt), extra virgin olive oil, pumpkin seeds and our own goats' milk and the soft cheeses we make from it. We have medicinal value in kelp and bluegreen algae, and have found numerous remedies from our friends the honeybees.

We seek to be friends to the earth, recycling and avoiding pollution as much as possible. We are looking into developing alternative energies as well. In turn the earth provides many things that support our good health.

As a nation we are just being born and there is much work to be done to bring this vision about. If from what you are reading you find some common ground, please come for a visit and see first hand all that we are doing.

One of our greatest desires is to share our life with others. There are many ways to get to know us.
